Liz Henry

I have organized various unconferences and helped with large (1000+) person technology conferences and can speak on that topic. I also ran a Wiki Wednesday monthly meeting which ran in multiple cities for over a year.
I've spoken at BlogHer, SXSWi, various BarCamps, wiki meetups, and various SF and literary conferences.
I'm good at teaching workshops and classes on technical topics for relative beginners; for example, how to start a blog, differences between blogging platforms, overhauling existing blogs, tagging, setting up feeds and plugins, administering group blogs and communities, finding and using useful scripts, how to find a web host and use ftp and shell accounts, Agile development, open source licensing, running Apache and installing software on Unix or Linux servers. I can talk about WordPress, Typepad and Moveable Type, Blogger, Mediawiki, Drupal, phpbb, bbPress, and other useful software that takes a bit of setting up and administration. I write a little bit of code in Perl, Python, and Javascript.
In other words, not a super hacker, but an excellent speaker and presenter with a broad range of knowledge. The value I bring is my eclectic background and ability to synthesize information quickly, and transmit enthusiasm to a wide variety of audiences.
I like to speak on theoretical topics, Internet trends, activism, politics, assistive technology, disability, blogging and race and gender. I can speak on privacy, anonymity, internet drama, and trolls as well as on trends in marketing and advertising to women on the Internet. I look for patterns of Internet use in Latin America and read a lot of blogs in Spanish. I read many women-in-tech mailing lists such as Systers, Linuxchix, Drupalchix, Wikichix and can speak on issues that are of concern to women in computing today. Since 1991, I have been writing and publishing about women's use of the Internet.
I can speak on topics of using the web and social media for community organizing, nonprofits, disaster relief, and elections monitoring in the U.S. and internationally.
I have something of a background in literary translation from Spanish to English including many varieties of regional Spanish.
