Lori M Olson

As a Sun Certified Java Programmer with over 8 years of Java, Swing, and J2EE experience, I became frustrated with the amount of configuration, duplication, and boilerplate that was a necessary part of Java development.
Introduced to the Ruby on Rails framework in the fall of 2005, I _never_ looked back.
I've been a Senior Software Architect at Labrador Technologies since 2005, bringing over 23 years experience in end-to-end software development and 17 years of object oriented programming and design experience.
One of the founders of the Calgary Ruby User Society (CRUserS), I have been designing and implementing web applications using Ruby on Rails for over 3 years. Prior to working with Labrador, I worked for a variety of companies and industries, including Halliburton, IBM, DO2 Technologies, IHS, WNDX, EVault, and Shell Canada. Some of my particular areas of interest include optimizing software development processes and usage centered design. I also hold a B.Sc (Honors) in Computer Science from the University of Calgary.
In addition, I am also a member of CodeGear’s TeamB, providing knowledgeable, accurate, service-oriented assistance to the JBuilder & 3rdRail communities. Frequently presenting topics of interest at the Calgary Ruby User Society, I have also spoken at the CodeRage and COSSFEST conferences on Ruby on Rails mapping topics, and participated in the Women In Rails panel at RailsConf 2009.
